Organic nutrients become plant-available only after microbial decomposition. To support this process, a biofilter is needed. Build one using a 3–5 L mesh pot filled with 60% clay pebbles and 40% coco fiber, suspended over your tank with constant water flow. In recirculating systems (e.g., GrowStream), place it under the return pipe. Never submerge the filter – microbes need oxygen to thrive.
