Rule of thumb: Base area × 300 gives an approximate value for the required airflow in m³/h. For LED grows under normal conditions, this is usually enough. For HPS lighting or warmer environments, increase the capacity accordingly.

The motor type affects efficiency, noise level, and controllability. Classic asynchronous motors (AC) are robust, compatible with almost any controller, and often more affordable. However, they can produce noticeable humming noises. Electronically commutated motors (EC) are far more efficient, quieter, and allow precise control – but only with compatible controllers.
