PERLIGRAN® Classic: Optimum growth with natural perlite
Your success is rooted in PERLIGRAN®
PERLIGRAN® Classic, made from pure perlite, is the ideal solution for first-class plant growth and is used in both substrates and hydroponics. In this article, you will learn how PERLIGRAN® enables vegetables, herbs and ornamental plants to thrive thanks to its unique production process and outstanding quality characteristics.
What exactly is perlite?
PERLIGRAN® is based on natural volcanic rock, perlite. A special refining process, which we call the "popcorn principle", transforms the previously crushed rock in an impressive way. At temperatures of around 1,000 °C, the crystal water contained in the perlite expands and expands the material by 20 times its original volume. This unique process makes PERLIGRAN® an exceptional medium for plant growth.
PERLIGRAN® is a purely mineral medium and therefore phytosanitary safe. This means that you do not have to worry about unwanted intermediate faeces when growing your plants. In hydroponics, the phytosanitary safety of PERLIGRAN® can even be re-established through a special fertilisation process after use. This means that PERLIGRAN® can be reused up to five times as a pure medium - an environmentally friendly approach to sustainable gardening.
The RHP certificate, originally for "Regeling Handels Potgronden" (Regulation for Commercial Potting Soil), stands for the highest standards in terms of product safety, purity, quality assurance, freedom from weeds and research and development. PERLIGRAN® fulfils all the criteria of this renowned certificate, giving you the certainty that you are using a product of the highest quality.
PERLIGRAN® is the right choice for environmentally conscious gardeners and farmers. It is biocompliant and approved by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) as a soil additive for organic farming and horticulture. In fact, it is currently the only perlite product to have received this approval. With PERLIGRAN® you can ensure that your plants thrive in a natural and sustainable way.
Our raw materials are extracted from our own mines on the Greek island of Milos. Refinement takes place in our own production facilities. This enables us to guarantee security of supply and exclude fluctuations in quality. With PERLIGRAN® you can be sure that you are getting a product you can rely on at all times.
PERLIGRAN® Classic is more than just a horticultural product - it is the basis for successful plant growth on a mineral basis. Trust in the proven quality of PERLIGRAN® and create the best conditions for your plants.
Applications and areas of use of PERLIGRAN®
PERLIGRAN® has established itself internationally as an effective aid for substrate and soil improvement. Specially developed for these applications, it offers a whole host of advantages:
- Excellent ventilation: With a pore volume of 95% by volume, PERLIGRAN® ensures optimum conditions for even the finest plant roots. This promotes healthy growth.
- Water storage capacity: Depending on the selected sieving level (e.g. PERLIGRAN® Premium or PERLIGRAN® Classic), PERLIGRAN® can absorb 28 to 50 % of its weight in water. This optimises moisture regulation in the substrate.
- Rapid moisture absorption: Thanks to its high capillarity, PERLIGRAN® absorbs moisture quickly and at the same time prevents waterlogging through effective drainage.
- Salt-free and pH-neutral: PERLIGRAN® is salt-free, nutrient-free and pH-neutral, which ensures that your plants grow in a healthy and balanced environment.
- Lightweight and easy to handle: With a dry weight of just 90 kg per cubic metre, PERLIGRAN® is easy to transport and use.
Hobby gardeners also benefit from PERLIGRAN®'s outstanding properties:
- Water storage capacity: The high water storage capacity of PERLIGRAN® promotes root growth and creates a loose, airy soil.
- Versatile application: PERLIGRAN® is being used more and more frequently in propagation soils, hobby soils and potting soils for private use. It is readily available from specialised retailers.
PERLIGRAN® plays an important role in gardening and landscaping:
- Soil stabilisation: PERLIGRAN® is used in green spaces such as golf courses and parks to anchor grass roots and stabilise the soil.
- Air circulation and soil structure: In wet locations, PERLIGRAN® improves air circulation and soil structure, allowing plant roots to thrive.
- Increase water capacity: PERLIGRAN® increases the water capacity on sandy soils, which can prevent dry damage.
PERLIGRAN® is ideal for vegetable cultivation, especially on problematic soils:
- Air- and water-permeable soil: PERLIGRAN® improves the soil structure, making both excessively wet and excessively sandy soils more suitable for growing vegetables.
PERLIGRAN® shows its strengths in potted plants and cut flowers:
- Optimisation of water retention: PERLIGRAN® improves root growth and water retention. This keeps the potting soil loose and the plants receive a controlled supply of water and nutrients.
PERLIGRAN® significantly improves substrates:
- Optimum aeration and structural stability: PERLIGRAN® ensures better aeration, rewettability, higher water storage capacity and structural stability of substrates.
- Dust-free and free of fines: PERLIGRAN® Premium is double-sieved and absolutely dust-free, which prevents compaction of the soil.
PERLIGRAN® is ideal for the soilless cultivation of cut flowers and vegetables:
- Phytosanitary harmlessness: As a mineral medium, PERLIGRAN® phytosanitär is harmless and pH-neutral.
- Reusability: PERLIGRAN® can be reused up to five times, which saves resources and at the same time enables an ideal supply of nutrients and water.
PERLIGRAN® is the first choice for gardeners and farmers who prioritise quality and efficiency. Take advantage of the many possible applications of PERLIGRAN® and achieve optimum results in your horticulture.
