What is the Carbon Active EC Silent Box?

The Carbon Active EC Silent Box is the latest development in exhaust and supply fans. Equipped with an EC motor (Electronically Commutated Motor), this fan meets the current ERP 2015 standard, providing high performance with minimal energy consumption. The Silent Box is soundproofed and allows for extremely quiet ventilation – ideal for applications where noisy ventilation solutions are not desired. Thanks to the modern EC motor and compact design, it is both powerful and energy-efficient.

What are EC Motors and Why Are They Special?

EC motors (Electronically Commutated Motors) are distinguished by their advanced technology, where the motor's commutation is electronic rather than mechanical. This leads to significantly higher efficiency compared to traditional AC motors (alternating current motors). EC motors only consume as much energy as required for the current speed, making them particularly energy-efficient. This technology delivers high performance while simultaneously reducing power consumption, making them eco-friendly and economical.

Difference Between Traditional AC Motors and Modern EC Motors

The main difference between traditional AC motors and modern EC motors lies in the control method and energy efficiency. AC motors operate at a constant speed and require mechanical commutation, leading to higher energy losses. In contrast, EC motors offer electronic speed control that optimizes energy consumption based on demand. Another advantage of EC technology is the significantly higher pressure build-up. While a traditional AC fan at 1000 m³/h generates about 250 Pa of pressure, the EC fan generates the same airflow with around 1200 Pa – nearly four times as much.

Due to the higher pressure build-up, EC fans can achieve the same effect with around 30-40% less airflow, which results in reduced energy consumption. Additionally, the Silent Box is soundproofed and ensures an exceptionally quiet operation even with high airflow and pressure build-up.

Important Notice: External Control Required

Please note that the Carbon Active EC Silent Box can only be operated with an external controller. This controller allows for precise speed regulation, ensuring that the fan only consumes as much energy as needed for the current operation. Without the proper controller, the full potential of the EC motor cannot be realized, and energy consumption may increase.
